The Mission of CCA

Cornerstone Crossroads Academy exists to expose at-risk high school students to the hope and abundant life found in Christ, equipping students to know God and serve Him forever.

The mission of Cornerstone Crossroads Academy is to educate and teach "at-risk" high school students who have not been successful in traditional settings in a way that provides them with hands-on, real-life experiences in order that they may develop physically, socially, intellectually, and spiritually and so that they may graduate with a high school diploma.

Cornerstone Crossroads Academy educates the whole student for a life of personal responsibility, service, and learning, through an academic curriculum that embraces the values of truth, compassion, justice, and community found in the Gospel of Jesus. Our name reflects our mission to partner with students in crisis at a time when critical decisions must be made. Our hope is in Christ and that He will direct our paths. Crossroads' faculty and staff are committed to living this mission and providing a school environment that cultivates young men and women of God.

We are doing everything we can to encourage and build-up struggling teens, developing in them the desire to stand strong and pursue their education.

The Classroom

In 2010 Cornerstone Crossroads Academy is in its fifth year of operation. Student enrollment comes from referrals from counselors, churches, the South Dallas Juvenile Probation Officers, and word of mouth. Students are instructed in English, History, Math, and Science. Students participate in a "Connections" class, which exposes students to guest speakers who share information regarding careers, choices, problem-solving, and life experiences. Many other services are provided, including a daily breakfast/lunch program, physical education, 4H Club, tutoring by SMU students three times a week, job readiness workshops, service learning activities, Friday motivational activities, and access to summer camp and international mission trips.

Students who complete the program are awarded a high school diploma. All students are required to take the Accuplacer Test at a Dallas County Community College and be accepted by the college prior to graduation.
